The Melodie Has A New Member of the Band: Matt Trump on Guitar

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Matt Trump!! Matt is joining me (Scotty) for the band's upcoming 2nd album, which is currently being recorded. Matt and I have been close friends for over a decade. The Melodie is doubling the rock for this second cd, with an all-new sound. This is a new move for the band, since I've been playing solo for over a year as The Melodie, and I'm so excited!

It's been a long while since I last posted any news on the Melodie, so here's the latest: I've been slowly writing bits and pieces of new songs over the past months that I'm beginning to record for a new album. I have no idea what the name of the new album will be, and none of the songs are complete yet. Once I have a single to share, I'll post it on a new mixtape on this page and on my Facebook page, so watch for that in the next few weeks.
I have a lot to say in the new album, just like in my first album. You can expect a little more rock and fewer slow songs. Sometimes you've just gotta rock, and I hope to bring out that feeling in the new album.
I'll be writing more songs that I could play acoustic shows with. The first album has SO many layered guitar tracks and keyboard tracks that it's difficult to make the songs sound the same played on one acoustic guitar. So, hopefully I'll be able to play some acoustic shows with the new songs (and some of the songs from the first album).
Also, for those of you who haven't been to the shows, check out my merchandise page for all kinds of t-shirts, stickers, mugs, mousepads, etc. Make sure to pick up some "flair" to show all your friends you love The Melodie!!

Behind the Scenes of the Eastern Wyoming College Show...

This was awesome. Main street shops in Torrington were plastered with these posters. It's a good feeling to see your face all over town. The sight of these posters all over got me so amped to play. I don't think I stopped smiling the whole trip. (Pictures of the Melodie are at top-right)

You'd probably never guess, but this road is home to the Torrington, WY radio station who played our songs on the air to get everyone in the area ready for the show. Thanks guys.

A very wise man once told me, "Go out on a limb, that's where the fruit is." I took his advice and recorded "Carry My Heart" with subdued, stripped-down guitar parts, keys, and even an organ track. Careful though, this new ballad pulls on your heartstrings.

My name is Scott, and I live in Salt Lake City. I am the voice and the sound behind the Melodie. This site will serve as your own backstage pass to the music you hear. Found on these pages will be the lyrics, the reasons and inspirations behind the songs, and the story behind the upcoming/debut album "Into This".
The Melodie is my catalyst for writing the kind of music I want to write, each song woven by my own thoughts and experiences and insights. Creating the actual melodies has been a new road for me, as these songs are known only to me until they are released for you to hear.
In my hope to create a new sound and derail the new songs from monotony, my real hope is to create more of an experience than a block of cohesive songs. I owe each of you my thanks for taking part in the music. Thank you all so much.
